Offers very good information about basic Timbale Rhythms. This book does a good job of introducing you to drumming independance exercises. My friends and I still look back at this book with very fond memories. This book can definitely get you started playing Bata Drums - as long as you have an understanding of rhythm basics and drum sounds. I rarely read a book more then once and I've read this one several times over. I can't recommend it enough.
